Ireland to be Guest Nation at Hyderabad Literary Fest

Ireland will be the guest nation this year at the Hyderabad Literary Festival. Ireland’s Ambassador to India Feilim Mc Laughlin will inaugurate the Irish cultural performances at the festival.
Apart from discussions, readings, book launches, the literary fest, will also have workshops on theatre, music, photography, story-writing, print-making and paper airplane making by leading artists and musicians.
Delegates and writers from Ireland, Singapore, Germany, Sri Lanka and USA are participating in the fest. The events will be held at four different locations - Lamakaan, Ashiana, Saptaparni amd Kalakriti Art Gallery.
Hindi will be the language of focus at the festival this year. Paying attention to the writing in one Indian language at each edition of the festival was a feature introduced last year. Telugu was the language in focus at HLF 2013.
Special sessions on the history of Indian cinema, Indian publishing industry and Dalit writing will be held.
Special workshops for children like storytelling by Deepa Kiran and Shalini Srinivasan, paper airplane project by Baptist Coelho, printmaking and woodcutting workshop by Lina Vincent etc are also scheduled in the festival.
HLF is an annual event that celebrates creativity in all its forms. The festival that was launched in 2010 draws over a hundred writers, artistes, scholars, publishers from India and abroad each year.
