The APSRTC Employee Union is all set to launch indefinite strike from Monday. Nearly ten other unions of the corporation’s employees have extended their support to the strike call. Thus, over 23 lakh buses are likely to remain in 217 depots across the state.
K Padmakar, general secretary of APSRTC Employee Union, said, “We seek interim relief for over 1.20 lakh employees. Though we had demanded 46 pc IR, we agreed to 32 pc after negotiations but the management says it will pay only up to 21 pc.”
There are other demands which include regularisation of the services of all the 24,577 contract employees and fresh recruitments on regular employment basis,” said VS Rao, general secretary of Staff and Workers Federation.
The corporation has regularised the jobs of 9,518 contract employees.
