Sadhana Calms the Mind

How beautiful a swan looks on the lake! We cannot see its feet paddling away below the surface, we can only see it floating gracefully on the water.

How beautiful a swan looks on the lake! We cannot see its feet paddling away below the surface, we can only see it floating gracefully on the water. Though Devi is constantly nurturing and nourishing the whole of creation, She is always calm, patient, equipoised and benevolent. With us it is the reverse. Though we appear calm outside, the mind is rippling with thoughts. That is why Devi cannot float on it peacefully. We need sadhana to hold the mind still and remove all its ripples. So let us chant this mantra today to quieten our minds and invite Devi to abide there forever. There is also another important mantra that we should chant to complete our transformation: Om Gurumurthyei Namaha. This means, “I offer my salutations to the Divine Mother who is the Guru Shakthi guiding the whole cosmos, removing the darkness of all beings with her radiance and transforming them into guiding lights.” Devi is the guru and Devi is the mantra. The guru, who is sent by Devi to guide us is the reflection of Devi herself and Devi reverberates in every syllable of the mantra that he teaches us. When we surrender at the Lotus Feet of the guru and diligently chant that mantra, we are also transformed. If all of us become gurus, this world will dance with light and there will be no place for darkness anywhere.

All of us should perform sadhana so that we become empowered to remove the darkness in the lives of others. When we serve our guru, revere him and allow him to guide us in all ways, He reveals the secret of creation. Then we comprehend the indescribable grandeur of Devi and exclaim in wonder- “Mother, this universe which I thought was so intricate, vast and wonderful is just a past time for you. Creation is your recreation, mother. It is your divine sport. Now I understand that you can create anything out of nothing, but despite all your grandeur, You are still my Mother and I am Your child.” She replies, “Yes, I am the puppeteer and you are my puppet. Nothing moves without my will. I am also your companion and I play with you like a mischievous child, but I continue to be Your Mother and you are my child.”

The Divine Mother overflows with love and is always waiting for us to turn to her, comprehend her and merge with her.

Let us continue the sadhana that we have begun. Choose the mantra that appealed to you most and chant it everyday.

May your whole life be victorious. May the Divine Mother always be with you. May your life become a divine poem, a song of joy, a symphony of bliss offered at the Lotus Feet of Shri Lalitha. May all beings be happy.
