HYDERABAD: The central government has permitted the state government to register motor vehicles in Telangana state with ‘TS’ code.
Earlier, the Centre had given permission for registration of vehicles with ‘TG’ code but the state government wanted TS instead of TG.
Accordingly, the central government issued a gazette notification allowing Telangana state to register vehicles with TS code.
Transport minister P Mahender Reddy told media persons here on Wednesday that the registration of new vehicles would commence in about four days.
Meanwhile the state government would finalise the district codes for registration of vehicles.
There are around 70 lakh vehicles in the state. All the vehicles having AP registration number plates should have new number plates within four months, the minister said.
However, the time duration may be further extended, he added.
