HYDERABAD/KOCHI: The much-hyped ‘Kiss of Love’ fest turned out to be an entertaining fare for onlookers at ground zero, Marine Drive in Kochi, on Sunday.

Though police rounded up about 50 protestors, even before they could reach the venue, the latter managed to smooch in police vans! The event, organised by Free Thinkers (an FB group), attracted more number of curious onlookers — whom the police had to cane away — than participants. The programme was aimed at opposing moral policing  in the wake of a recent incident at a restaurant in Kozhikode.

Nearer home at the University of Hyderabad, some youngsters managed to hold the event in a show of solidarity with their counterparts in Kerala — they kissed and hugged at the shopping complex on the campus.  However, it led to some tense moments with the BJYM and ABVP activists stepping in. With both sides almost coming to blows, the varsity officials called the police, who dispersed the mobs. Two BJYM members were briefly detained.
