HYDERABAD:The Telangana government has introduced a new scheme, Aasara Pension, to ensure a secure life with dignity for the poor. A government order was issued to this effect on Wednesday. The scheme is meant to protect the most vulnerable sections of society, the old and the infirm in particular, people with HIV-AIDS, widows, incapacitated weavers and toddy-tapers who have lost their means of livelihood with growing age.
The data collected from the recent Samarga Kutumba Survey will be used to identify eligible beneficiaries.
Given the past experience of large number of ineligible persons managing to appropriate the benefits meant for the poor, government issued comprehensive guidelines for Aasara pensions.
