Prakash Utsav Celebrations Today

HYDERABAD: It will be a day of celebration in the city with the Sikh community celebrating the Prakash Utsav (birthday celebration) of Guru Nanak Dev today.

To mark the important occasion, the Prabhandak committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj have joined hands to make the event a grand success.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alongwith

cabinet ministers and Karimnagar Mayor S Ravinder Singh are expected to attend the celebrations. The mass congregation will be held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally from 11 am to 4 pm on November 6, where over 30,000 to 40,000 Sikh devotees and other community faiths will converge for the programme.

The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurbani Keertans (holy hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render Gurubani keertans.

After the culmination of the congregation, Guru Ka Langar (free community  kitchen) will be served to the devotees. A night Keertan Darbar will also be organised at Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad on November 6  from 9 to 2.30 am.
