GHMC Staff Seek Somesh Transfer

HYDERABAD : The Bhagyanagar Municipal GHMC Employee’s Union has demanded immediate transfer of GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar, failing which the union will be forced to launch a strike.

In a representation to governor ESL Narasimhan and chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, the union alleged that the commissioner had used unparliamentary language against the staff and behaved rudely with them.

Union president K Shankar said in a statement on Tuesday that the commissioner was suppressing the rights of employees by not giving due promotions to the eligible staff and not sanctioning medical and personal leave. Moreover, he was fixing unrealistic targets, the union leader alleged.

An employee, G Ashok, was threatened by the commissioner with suspension. Due to mental agony, he was admitted to a hospital and he died on November 9, Shankar alleged.

Meanwhile, Somesh Kumar said that he was ready to look into promotions and other issues of employees.
