HYDERABAD: Two students of Osmania University fell ill after being served with brinjal curry infested with insects in Maneru hostel mess on Friday. The students, Sandeep and Veeraswamy started vomiting after having food. Enraged, a group of students protested outside the vice-principal’s office and broke windows panes and computers in the office, said eye-witnesses. Cases were filed against the students following complaints from principal Sudarshan and vice-principal Narasimha Rao. Police said five protesting students have been arrested. Several students continued their protest outside the police station. “When we went to the vice-principal with a complaint, he spoke in a rash manner and did not bother to look into the issue,” V Kishore, a third year student of OU science college said. Both principal and vice-principal were unavailable for comment. In the Maneru mess the floor is filled with dirt, while waste is dumped around the corridors.
