Income Tax Set-up in AP, Telangana Restructured

HYDERABAD: In the wake of creation of Telangana state, the jurisdiction of income tax too has been changed. As part of restructuring, new assessment commissioner charges have been created at Kurnool in AP and at Hyderabad in Telangana.

The post of chief commissioner of income tax, Vijayawada has been created in AP, in addition to the one existing at Visakhapatnam, having administrative jurisdiction over Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and Rayalaseema districts. He will be assisted by the administrative commissioners stationed at Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Kurnool. Besides, 11 new appellate commissioner posts, five of them in Hyderabad, have been created.

A new corporate range has been carved out of the existing four in Hyderabad. New assessment ranges have been created at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ongole, Kadapa and Rajahmundry.  A post of principal chief commissioner of income-tax, equivalent to the special secretary to the Union government, has been created at Hyderabad and will be the cadre-controlling authority for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

According to a press release released by the income tax department on Friday, orders were passed giving new jurisdiction to the  income-tax authorities and the same was effective from November 15.

Copies of the new jurisdiction orders and the span of control have been placed on the website, www.incometaxhyderabad.org for public view and assessees can access the same to find their new jurisdictional officers.
