HYDERABAD: With the Hyderabad 10K run just around the corner, Hyderabadis are gearing up for the marathon with full enthusiasm and fervour. Speaking about the 12th edition, Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation chairperson Uma Chirugupati, who holds the record of running seven marathons said, “The 12th edition of 10k run has received thousands of applications and the registration are about to close. We are extremely delighted that Padmashri Milkha Singh has consented to be the brand ambassador of the Hyderabad 10k Run.”
A short video message of Former Indian Sprinter Milka Singh was layed at the precursor to the marathon. “I am happy to be the brand ambassador for the Hyderabad 10K Run. I will be there in Hyderabad and flag off the same,” said Milkha. Among the celebrities making their presence felt at the event were Regina Cassandra who participated in last year’s 10k Run. “I had participated in last year’s 10k Run and I finished it in 1 hour and 11 minutes. I also hope to finish this time as well. Last time, I was really excited about everything right from the little bag we got and I still have my number at home. Not just the youngsters but people from all age groups are enthusiastic to take part which shows the spirit of Hyderabad. It does not matter if you finish the 10 kilometers or not but the experience is worthwhile,” added Regina.
The route planned for the 10k run was also unveiled by IPS officer Jitender who listed the Do’s and Donts’ for the participants. “We are expecting about 15,000 participants and we have made arrangements for all traffic diversions from Khairatabad to Secunderabad. We are prepared for emergency situations as well. We would like to request the participants to come on time and find some parking space because the event is huge and we will be able to help you reach the venue on time. We have already prepared an elaborate plan and we assure of our support throughout the event.”
For all those who already registered, there is an expo on November 29 from 9 am to 7 pm where they can collect their registration kits. The registrants should carry their id cards to the expo.
