HYDERABAD: Women in the State want the State government to make registration of marriages compulsory. The official committee constituted to review and suggest on women security and their laws met here on Monday.
Speaking to reporters later, committee member Poonam Malakondaiah said that they met several women in the last ten days and elicited their views on the women safety and security.
They also gave several suggestions on the need to amend the existing Acts. One such suggestions was to make registration of marriages compulsory. The committee also received suggestions to implement 33 per cent reservation in police recruitments.
The reports of forensic and medical reports were getting delayed in rape victims’ cases, the committee noticed. As there were a lot of complaints on placing photos and comments on facebook, the women suggested the official committee to make section 66-A of the IT Act as non-bailable.
The committee will submit preliminary report to the State government on September 20 and the final report within two months, according to Malakondaiah.
