482 New Booths to be Set Up for Civic Body Elections

HYDERABAD: With elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation due in November/December this year, and increase in the number of voters in 15 Assembly constituencies falling in Hyderabad district, the GHMC proposes to set up 482 new polling stations in the city.

Presently there are about 3,386 polling stations and with the proposed 482 new polling stations, the number of polling booths will go up to 3,868 in Hyderabad district. Of the 482 new polling booths, 16 will be in set up in new buildings while 466 will come up in the same buildings.

Amberpet tops the list where 50 new polling booths have been proposed followed by Goshamahal (49), Yakutpura (44), Bahadarpura (40) and Khairatabad (38).

As many as 10 polling booths in new buildings will come up in Goshamahal, followed by Jubilee Hills (3), Khairatabad (2) and Sanathnagar (1). The 10 polling booths that have been identified for shifting are from Khairatabad.

GHMC officials told Express that presently Hyderabad district has about 3,091 polling booths and 295 auxiliary polling stations totaling 3,386 polling booths.
