HYDERABAD: Within a day of the murder of a 50-year-old businessman, the Saidabad police on Monday arrested five persons, including brother of victim, in connection with the case. The murder was a result of property dispute, said the police.
According to police, R Prameela, wife of the deceased R Srinivas, resident of BSNL Quarters, Saidabad lodged a complaint against her husband’s elder brother Subhash. In her complaint, Prameela said that Subhash, along with others, stabbed Srinivas in front of Malla Reddy Complex, Sagar Road, Champapet. Based on the complaint, police registered a murder case and arrested five persons on Monday.
The arrested have been identified as R Subash, a DMRL employee (elder brother of the deceased), B Dharmender Singh, auto-rickshaw driver, Arvolla John, 45, cab driver, resident of Shamshabad, Vadla Satish Kumar Chary, resident of Chintal, Ranga Reddy and Gajjala Kiran, 38, resident of Nagole. Subhash had been earlier named in a murder case under Madannapet Police Station limits in 1993.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East Zone, V Ravinder said that there was a dispute between the brothers (Srinivas and Subhash) regarding a 200 square yard house at Kurmaguda, Madannapet.
The house, an ancestral property of undividable shares, belongs to five brothers. The share of one of the sons had been settled by their father in order to avail a bank loan on his request.
“One of the brother’s son had constructed a G+4 floors apartment by pledging land documents to get a bank loan.
The accused Subhash reportedly pressured the Srinivas to clear the loan amount and get back the land documents. However, Srinivas failed to clear the loan and disputes arose between the brothers.
“The accused later hatched a plan to kill his brother. With the help of his friends Dharmender Singh, John, Satish Kumar Chary and Kiran, the accused executed the plan,’’ the DCP said.
