It is learnt that about 30 wholesale drug dealers in both the states were identified for selling the syrup bottles seized at the border, and investigation is on to know their role.

It is reported widely about addiction to cough syrup and how it is used as an alternative to alcohol by addicts.

In November, the Drug Control Administration (DCA) officials here got a call from Director general of DCA, Kolkata, informing about the seizure. And only in one part of Hyderabad, a 20,000 syrup bottles were sold by a drug dealer, said the officials.
