7 Held for Trying to Sell Buddha Idol

police.jpgHYDERABAD: Panjagutta police arrested seven persons for trying to sell a antique Buddha idol. Police seized the Buddah idol and a car from them . The arrested persons are -- Shaik Mohammed Irfan Basha, Konpala Leela Kumar, Syed. Ghouse Basha, Abdul Lateef, Pariveda Murali Krishna Goud, Metra Praveen Kumar and Shaik Nazeer Basha.

The accused Shaik Mohammed Irfan Basha found a bronze Buddha idol weighing 7 kg in Tungabadra river on NH-7, Kurnool, and he informed the same to his friend Leela Kumar who in turn contacted his friend Syed Ghouse Basha.

All of them came to the city and met Abdul Lateef and Murali Krishna Goud. All of them tried to sell the idol by claiming that it was an antique piece which is worth more than `50 lakh. When they were trying to sell the idol, police arrested them.
