Learning on the go

Apart from news and updates, you can add to your pool of knowledge by listening to educative, informative and entertaining podcasts on the go

Let’s reel our lives.

We wake up in the morning, rush through the usual chores (each one has varied ones), get dressed and get going! A few others, who are on a different shift, will push this routine a few hours into the day.

And some of us, ‘who have written our own destiny’, have absolutely no time left in our hands – we love what we do and we have to keep doing it.

In this daily routine, catching up with what’s happening around the world and learning about things that we always wanted to, becomes a little difficult to accommodate.

In times like this, we would all like something that can be incorporated into our schedule. Nothing works better than podcasts.

City Express lists those websites and applications where you can stream or download podcasts of your interest and learn on the go.

Stitcher Radio

If you are one of those who doesn’t like to burden your devices with too much data or information, Stitcher is what you need to have. It allows you to choose podcasts on hundreds of topics, where a few are as short as a minute and a half. Short and sweet for the new age! It also airs podcasts by news channels through its embedded networks.

Available on Android and iOS.

Bol Hyderabad

The city has quite a few commercial radio stations and four operational community radio stations. While the community radio stations broadcast programmes for limited number of hours in a day, Bol Hyderabad 90.4 fm, that is run by the students at the University of Hyderabad records podcasts too. The podcasts include interviews and discussions by popular academicians, activists, writers, educators and many others. They are educative and also provide varied perspectives from experts in various fields.

These can be downloaded from Yourlisten.com.

This one is for the one who wants to learn – from history, arts, culture, news, politics to religion and spirituality – Podcast Republic has something for everyone. Another application that is similar to Podcast Republic is Podcast Addict that is also available on Android and iOS. Apart from these specific applications, popular news organisations also have their own podcasts on their websites. TED Talks, that has interesting people sharing experiences and ideas also has podcasts. So, go download and start listening!
