The Home Party

Mala Pasha, founder and president, The Torn Curtains, says “Ramzan is a really special month – the excitement of shopping, cooking goodies to eat in the evening after the fast, the anticipation of friends coming over on Eid to celebrate the day and feast with us – it is the best time in the year.”

Fasting, Feasting and splurging

“This is the one time in the year when I really enjoy going to the Old City to shop and eat. You get all mouthwatering delicacies. And the area around the Old City looks so colourful and pretty, and there’s such an excitement in the air.  Of course, one does end up buying a lot of things we will never use.”

What she likes

“Iftaar at friends’ places or calling friends over to our place is when I enjoy the most. I love dates, fruit salads, and of course, dahiwadas, lukhmi, kababs and fried foods (my weakness). I think I end up putting on weight in this month,” she says.
