Telangana Forms Society for Protection of Children

HYDERABAD: The State government on Thursday constituted Telangana State Society for Protection and Empowerment of Children. The society is formed with an objective of protecting children and to promote access of children to quality services and opportunities for building an equitable society.

The society will contribute for improvement in the well being of children, particularly those in difficult circumstances, as well as, for reduction of vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead to discrimination, neglect, abuse, exploitation, abandonment and separation of children.

It will also synergies the efforts of various Government departments, organisations, NGOs, civil societies and international development agencies for effective implementation of the programmes and services meant for them.

The society will raise public awareness, educate public on child rights and protection on situation and vulnerabilities of children and families, on available child protection services, schemes and structures at all levels.

The executive board of the society will be headed by the Principal Secretary (women and child welfare department). There will be a general body and district-level committees also for the society, according to orders issued on Thursday.
