Telangana Police Wage Digital Battle to Take Down Porn Site tspolice.com!

With police blocking porn sites, one may think that it was created to get back at the police, but CID denies it

HYDERABAD: It is an embarrassment that the Telangana Police can do without. A porn site that masquerades and appears like the official website of the Telangana Police but isn’t. To add to the shame, the URL tspolice.com leads to an explicit site that can make anybody blush. The State Police, which has proudly got itself a makeover, technologically and aesthetically, continues to put up with a major embarrassment online.

With the Telangana police earlier blocking several porn sites, one may think that such a site in the name of tspolice was created by miscreants to get back at the police department. The CID terms the same mere coincidence.

Believe it or not, the said porn site has been there for six years and is registered in Belize City, a small speck of a nation in Central America.  Despite making earnest efforts and getting court’s intervention, the authorities are not able to get the site blocked. A senior official of State Crime Investigation Department (CID) on condition of anonymity said, “The site has been there since February 2009. TSpolice here means trans-sexual police and police here means a community. The site is clearly about the transsexual community.”

The official said that several Internet service providers (ISP) have blocked the site. The reality is the site continues to be available in Internet provided by Tata Communications and a few others. “We have written for blocking of the site and there seems some minor technical issues that the site is available in some connections,” he said.

In October 2014, he said, the Court had given a judgment directing the site to be blocked. Following this, the Department of Telecommunications had also issued a direction for all service providers to block the same in January 2015. The availability of the porn site despite orders has been brought to the notice of the State government, he added.

The site is a clickbait harvester leads to several related pornographic sites. There certainly exists the disclaimer about the site containing “sexually explicit, adult material and is for adults only! By entering this site, you certify that you are 18 years or older and, if required in the locality where you view this site, 21 years or older, that you have voluntarily come to this site in order to view sexually explicit material. All persons depicted herein were at least 18 years of age!”

But right now, anybody who hits the site thinking they are accessing information about Telangana police would be in for a shock.
