GHMC Official Held, Rs 1.5 Crore Assets Seized

Acting on a tip off, the ACB officials raided the house of town planning section officer T Emanuel and seized the assets.

HYDERABAD: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday raided the house of  town planning official of GHMC at Kukatpally and unearthed assets worth Rs 1.5 crore amassed by the officer illegally.

Acting on a tip off, the ACB officials raided the house of T Emanuel, section officer-3, town planning section, GHMC, Kukatpally. They  also conducted searches at the residences of Emanuel’s relatives and associates in Hyderabad, Warangal and other places in the state.

During the searches it was found that the official owned residential buildings at Hanmakonda, Khazipet and Kukatpally, seven house plots in Warangal, two acres of agricultural land in Warangal, two cars,  50 tolas gold ornaments, Rs 1.5 lakh cash,  Rs 3 lakh bank balance besides two under-construction shopping complexes in Warangal — conservative estimates, as per government prices, put their worth at Rs 1.5 crore.

However, the market value of these properties is said to be approximately Rs 5 crore. Emanuel was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
