Doctors Remove Pencil from Boy's Heart

HYDERABAD: Six-year-old Sai Charan on Thursday has been discharged after removal of a pencil that pierced his heart. In a unique surgery Dr Sameer Diwale of Maxcure Hospitals and his team managed to remove the pencil from the heart of Charan, who met with an accident while returning from school. The pencil was removed from the boy’s heart and the damage was securely repaired.

Dr Sameer Diwale told media persons that the boy has recovered after the surgery. During his 4 days stay,  he was given physiotherapy that includes blowing and deep breathing exercises and ambulation to which he responded very well. All his exercises were designed in a child friendly manner. He has been prescribed a regular and nutritious diet with which the boy will regain strength, said Dr Dilwale.

Charan was given  necessary precautions like not to lie on his tummy and no strenuous activities like running, jumping, skipping etc.
