Ex-staffer of GHMC Gets Two-year Jail

HYDERABAD: The ACB court has sentenced a former GHMC employee to two years imprisonment for accepting bribe to a issue birth certificate.

According to ACB officials, the court found Sirsilla Venkatesham, who was working as a lower division clerk in the health section (Birth & Death), of GHMC Circle - IV  guilty of accepting bribe and sentenced him to undergo two years simple imprisonment  and pay a fine of Rs 5,000. In case of failure to pay the fine amount, he should undergo simple imprisonment for six months for accepting favour from a person while holding the office of a public servant.

Further, he was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 for taking gratification other than remuneration. Venkatesham was caught red handed by the ACB officials while accepting bribe. Shobha, special public prosecutor of ACB argued on behalf of the prosecution.
