Minor Trouble for Garikapati

HYDERABAD: An altercation between a group of minor students and the driver of an MP led to mild tension in Punjagutta police limits on Sunday. The driver, who was allegedly assaulted by the minors, approached the police and lodged a complaint.

According to police, G Jaihind, the car driver of MP Garikapati Mohan Rao, was on way to Durganagar in Punjagutta on Saturday evening, when three minors were walking on the road while talking over the phone. Even though the driver pressed the horn, one of them failed to notice the vehicle and give way.

“Jaihind stopped the car and had an argument with them. The trio then assaulted him. He immediately complained to the MP’s personal assistant and other staff at the MP’s residence. They rushed to the place and sorted out the issue,’’ the police said.

However, late in the night, the three minors along with three of their friends reportedly went to the MP’s residence and had arguments with Jaihind again. The minors reportedly gained entry into the MP’s residence forcibly and assaulted the driver and ran away.

Jaihind lodged a police complaint stating that the minors had tried to ransack the furniture at the MP’s house and assaulted him. The police reportedly counselled the minors’ parents.
