German Firms Offer Modern Tech to SCCL

HYDERABAD:Fifteen German companies have come forward to supply modern equipment and advanced technology to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). A delegation, representing the firms, met N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director , Singareni Collieries, at the Singareni Bhavan on Monday.

The companies are already supplying equipment and technology to various coal companies across the world. During the meeting, Sridhar told them that Singareni was planning to increase production to 80 million tonnes. To meet the new target, Singareni needs modern technology like longwall and also continuous miners in the newly-proposed mining projects, he explained and suggested that the delegation visit some Singareni mines to get a better idea of the company’s requirements. Sridhar also asked them to come up with a comprehensive plan and provide efficient equipment which can serve in the long-term.

The delegation accepted the CMD’s advice to visit SCCL mining areas and also agreed to submit suitable proposals. B Ramesh Kumar, Director, operations, KJ Amarnath, CGM (CPP) and other higher officials were also present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a German delegation expressed willingness to share expertise with technical institutes (mining) in Telangana. This will help in enhancing skills of employees in the mining sector, particularly in areas like fault-finding, recommissioning, handling of modern machinery and others.

The 16-member delegation called on Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao at the Secretariat here Monday.

 The team was led by BenhardSchust, Damic Matric, Rajesh Seth and others representing the German Engineering Federation and others.
