Closure of Tank Bund Road for Vehicular Traffic leads to Chaos

HYDERABAD: Traffic went haywire on Friday due to temporary closure of Tank Bund and Buddha Bhavan Road. Office-goers and motorists faced severe hardships due to the closure of the main link between the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The traffic police has temporarily closed the road near Buddha Bhavan for the next 10 days to facilitate laying of trunk sewer lines by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). It made alternative arrangements for movement of traffic coming from Tank Bund as well as Ranigunj and RP Road.

With the alternative arrangements resulting in utter chaos and inconveniencing the public on Friday morning, traffic police  have decided to rethink their strategies and will allow traffic to proceed on Tank Bund Road on Saturday.

“After much deliberation, we have decided to allow traffic to proceed on all roads, except near Buddha Bhavan Road. Motorists who will cross the Buddha Bhavan Road, shall be diverted towards Kavaliguda, Necklace Road and Lower Tank Bund Road,” explained Jitender, additional commissioner of police (Traffic), Hyderabad.

No More Waste in Hussainsagar

With laying of trunk sewer lines, sewage and industrial waste water would no more enter into Hussainsagar lake from the Kukatpally/Balanagar nala from July. HMWS&SB took up the work of laying trunk sewer lines near Buddha Bhavan Road leading to Tank Bund Road. Nearly 350 Millions of Litres Per Day (MLD) of sewage and industrial water which is flowing into the Hussainsagar from Kukatpally nala would be diverted to the downstreams of Hussainsagar surplus nala (kalasiguda nala) as works on laying of of about 3.5-4 km Trunk Sewer Lines are being taken by HMWS&SB
