HYDERABAD:  A 15-year-old girl was abducted, gang-raped and brutally done to death, sending shock waves across the State, at Injam thanda under Bantwaram police limits in Rangareddy district late Thursday night.

The girl and her father Magawath Kamal alighted at the Vikarabad railway station in the evening and were on way home on a motorcycle when they were attacked by a group of unidentified persons at Mettapur village around 7.45 p.m. Kamal and her daughter stopped by a borewell as the latter had wanted to quench her thirst, police said, adding that while they were drinking water, at least two assailants pounced upon Kamal. “They hit him on the head with a stone due to which he lost his consciousness. The assailants dragged the girl into an auto, in which three of their accomplices including the auto-driver were waiting, and sped away,” district SP M Srinivas said.

Kamal regained consciousness after a while and frantically searched for his daughter in vain. He immediately lodged a complaint at the nearest police station.

The girl’s body was found in a forest area, hardly a km from where she was kidnapped, on Friday. The victim had head injuries and scratch marks on the body. She was strangulated. Preliminary investigation and medical reports revealed the girl was gang-raped before being killed, the SP confirmed. The girl had been staying at her relative’s house for the last one month and her father was taking her home Thursday.

“We have formed special teams to nab the culprits,’’ the SP said. Police suspect the involvement of auto-drivers and questioned several of them Friday. The police registered cases of kidnap, murder and rape.
