HYDERABAD: Even though the Ranga Reddy police arrested Meghawath Kamal for the alleged rape and murder of his own daughter, his wife and other family members on Sunday accused the cops of deliberately implicating him in the case and subjecting him to third degree torture. Women’s organisations too demanded that the State government order a CID probe to unearth the ‘facts.’
Ranga Reddy district SP M Srinivas, however, asserted that Kamal had confessed to the crime and said his statement was also recorded. In his confessional statement, Kamal said he had tried to sexually assault his daughter twice. When he first attempted to sexually assault the girl, she hit him on the head with a stone while trying to escape from his clutches. “Then, she ran away from the place. Kamal chased her on his two-wheeler and pleaded with folded hands not to inform the matter to her mother Devi Naik. As the girl was convinced, the duo proceeded to their place Chittempally thanda on the two-wheeler. On the way, Kamal stopped his bike on the pretext of attending to nature’s call and dragged her to an isolated place and raped her. As she lay unconscious, he killed her by strangulating her throat,’’ the SP explained.
Minutes after committing the crime, he washed his face and went to his thanda where he explained to his family members and relatives that miscreants had assaulted him and kidnapped his daughter, he added.
However, Kamal’s wife Devi Naik and family members alleged that police had deliberately registered false cases against him after some persons influenced them not to arrest the real culprits.
