Mom Leaps Into Musi With Daughter, Dies

A 35-year-old mentally unstable woman jumped into the Musi river with her six-year-old daughter in the wee hours.

HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old mentally unstable woman jumped into the Musi river with her six-year-old daughter in the wee hours of Saturday. The police fished out the girl’s body from river but the mother’s body is yet to be found.. The incident took place at Golnaka in Kachiguda precinct.

According to Kachiguda Inspector D Raj Kumar, Lakshmi (35) jumped into the river with her daughter Manasa (6), a class first student in a government school. Lakshmi’s husband Deepak is a worker in a hostel. Lakshmi and her daughter left home to buy a a packet of milk, but did not return home on Friday. At around 5.30 am, Lakshmi committed suicide by jumping off into Moosi river.

“Locals noticed a girl who washed on the river bank and alerted the police. Police arrived on the scene and admitted her to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead. Her mother Lakshmi’s body is yet to be found though GHMC staff and police took up searching operation till 6 pm,’’ police said.
