HYDERABAD: To check malpractices of mobile water tankers in Secunderabad Cantonment Board area, consumers of SCB will be allowed to book water tankers at domestic rates directly with Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) from October 16.

The residents of SCB can call HMWS&SB Metro Customer Care number (155313) from their registered mobile numbers for booking  water tankers.

Presently, the water board is supplying bulk water to Cantonment Board at different locations. The same is distributed to the residents of SCB through their distribution network system. HMWS&B supplies 35 to 40 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to about 4 to 5 lakh population.

Apart from bulk water supplies to SCB, mobile tankers for domestic consumers of Cantonment Board were supplied from the Marredpally filling station belonging to HMWS&SB on the request of SCB.

HMWS&SB managing director B Janardhan Reddy during a visit to Cantonment area last week, observed that some tankers were playing mischief by selling water at double the price. These tankers are seized by the water board later.

To streamline the process, Janardhan Reddy held a meeting with SCB chief executive officer (CEO) Sujatha Gupta a few day ago, wherein the SCB CEO agreed to share the details of domestic consumers of Cantonment Board to the water board.

With SCB sharing the details of domestic CAN numbers which is being updated by HMWS&SB, the domestic consumers of Cantonment Board will be permitted to book tankers directly with the water board from October 16 onwards. As the water board does not have the data of domestic consumers of Cantonment Board, it is updating the details of consumers of Cantonment Board. The updation is expected to be completed in a day or two.
