Spreading Canards Against Union Government Unfair, Says Venkaiah

HYDERABAD: Citing a couple of stray incidents, some are spreading a canard that intolerance is rising under BJP rule which is unfair, Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu has said.

“Opposition parties, media and members of the so-called intelligentsia have been trying to create this impression but the BJP government had nothing to do with the killing of Kalburgi or Narendra Dabholkar,” he said at the release of a book, ‘Nayaka Trayam’, on Sunday.

The book, with focus on three top BJP leaders AB Vajpayee, LK Advani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was written by popular writer and former parliamentarian Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad.

Describing Lakshmi Prasad as multi-faceted  and multi-talented, Tamil Nadu governor K Rosaiah lauded his literary skills in Hindi and Telugu and said his writings were aimed at achieving unity among diverse ideologies.

A Krishna Rao, Deputy Resident Editor of The New Indian Express, credited Vajpayee and Advani with creating a successful alternative to the Congress in Indian politics.

Jnanpith awardee C Narayana Reddy, AP Legislative Council chairman A Chakrapani, film stars Akkineni Nagarjuna and Brahmanandam, and Vijay Kumar of Emesco Publishers were also present.
