Passing-out Parade of Canines

HYDERABAD: Stating that the state government allocates huge funds for police department, home minister N Narasimha Reddy has said police dogs play a key role in detecting and foiling the attacks by terrorists and anti-socials.

He was speaking at the 15th passing-out parade of police dogs organised by Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) at Integrated Intelligence Training Academy at Moinabad, on Thursday.

The 15th batch of 49 dogs, which passed out, was given eight months’ training. The academy has a veterinary doctor to monitor and take care of the health of dogs.

Pinky, a German Shepherd allocated to the Nalgonda unit; Browny, a Dobberman of  Tirupati unit; and Dolly, a police dog of Anantapur  unit were awarded the first, second the third trophies

in the tracking of explosives, assaults and narcotics categories.
