HYDERABAD: The state government is preparing a new action plan to remove illegal constructions on government properties such as endowment lands, water bodies and lakes within the limits of Greater Hyderabad and Hyderabad metropolitan area.

Interacting with presspersons here on Tuesday, commercial taxes minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said an exercise to identify such properties had been initiated and would be announced soon.

Stating that the government would not hesitate to take strict action against the owners of illegal constructions, Yadav said there was also a proposal to provide rehabilitation to financially poor people who are currently living in such illegal structures or encroached lands.

He observed that various departments still lacked clarity over their jurisdiction to take action against illegal constructions. The new plan was envisaged to ease the process of removing such illegal constructions on government lands, he explained.
