Meditate for a Healthy Mind

It is a known fact that meditation is the best solution to all mental and physcial problems. However, most of us fail to incorporate it in our daily schedule. If you want to start meditating soon, then now is the time – a lazy Monday morning. City Express gives you a few pointers about how to make it a daily routine.

Join meditation club

Enrolling in a club will push you to be regular. Meditating along with others will also motivate you to meditate for a longer duration. It will help also put you in the right track much faster.

Don’t think about right and wrong

In the beginning, it might be difficult for you to make your mind stick to one place for a while. You will take time to get into the process. Practicing everyday will help. As long as you’re practicing, don’t worry about whether what you are doing is right or not.

Silence

Different kinds of music is available online that helps in setting the mood for meditation. But nothing beats silence. When one sits in silence, he or she gets to experience what the mind is actually. You can create a special place to sit. A scented candle will also add to the atmosphere.

Posture

You can either sit on a chair or cross-legged on the floor. Make sure that your spine is upright with head up. If you slump in your chair, then your mind is likely to drift. The posture should be balanced so that your mind is also balanced. How can you ensure that you are sitting straight? You can imagine that your head is touching the sky. It helps.

Start  with 3-5 minutes

If this is your first time, then begin with baby steps. Beginning to meditate for a short duration will help you retain interest for a longer time. Three to five minutes is the prescribed ideal time to begin with. You could start with lesser than three minutes if you wish. The key is to keep doing it everyday. Set your alarm for the duration and let the volume be low – it needs to be a peaceful end.
