Facebook Stalker Traps 80 Girls

HYDERABAD:  His name: Vedika, Shriya, Rishika, Jhanvi, Sufiyaan... His targets: teenage girls. His demand: Nude pictures of girls.

A youth, who befriended girl in the city using fake Facebook profiles and blackmailed them threatening to release private conversations and pictures, was arrested by Cyberabad police Friday.

Abdul Majid, a B Tech Computer Science student and resident of Banjara Hills, created multiple fake profiles on Facebook, posing himself as a girl, and encouraged girls to involve in private talks, to trap them.

Posing as a girl, Abdul Majid sent ‘friend requests’ to girls studying in international schools and reputed colleges on Facebook. He lured girls into the trap asking them to share nude photographs and blackmailed them, police said.

Sharing the modus operandi of the stalker with media persons here Friday, Cyberabad police commissioner CV Anand said Majid had created ten accounts on Facebook. After formal chat,  he used to take oath of confidentiality. He lured as many as 200 girls studying class VIII to Intermediate and trapped 80 girls by collecting nude pictures on pretext of friendship,’’ Commissioner Anand said.
