Happy Ending to 4-hour Kidnap Drama

Vijay Patra, a seven-year-old class II student, was kidnapped from near his Highway Colony residence for a ransom payout of Rs. 1 crore. 

HYDERABAD: It was a four-hour tear-jerker with a happy ending. It began when Vijay Patra, a seven-year-old class II student, was kidnapped from near his Highway Colony residence at about 7 p.m. and the parents recieved a call for a ransom payout of  Rs. 1 crore. 

As the parents informed the police despite a dire warning by the kidnappers who picked up the child in a car. TV channels started flashing the news with the boy’s photograph.

Parents and police heaved a sigh of relief when some locals discovered the boy crying by the roadside by the apparently panicked kidnappers at about 10.45 p.m.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), LB Nagar, Tafseer Iqbal said that the kidnap drama began when some persons picked up Y Vijay Patra from outside his house in a car and zipped away.

Then they called his parents from mobile number -- 9949892673 and demanded ransom of `1 crore. The accused threatened that they would kill the boy if the parents approached the police.

But the parents approached the police nevertheless who threw a dragnet leading to the happy ending of the kidnap drama.
