Nigerian Held for Rs 150 Crore Online Scam

HYDERABAD: A Nigerian national was reportedly picked up by the Jharkhand police in Hyderabad on Monday for his alleged links with a online scam worth Rs 150 crore. A special team from Jharkhand took the suspect into custody at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Monday and he was immediately taken to Jharkhand.

The arrested person was believed to be part of a Nigerian group that is involved in online scams across the country. This group operates through social media networking sites and lure people with business offers. This particular group had allegedly collected Rs 150 crore from various buyers from different States with a promise to deliver seeds. Posing as seed merchants, they posted advertisements on Facebook and took orders from many people.
