All-India BSNL Chess Tournament to Begin Today

HYDERABAD:  In order to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and health consciousness among the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employees, the AP Telecom circle of BSNL is conducting the 15th All India BSNL chess tournament at RTTC, Gachibowli here from Tuesday.

“BSNL is encouraging sports by holding various sports events every year at State and national level. This time the BSNL corporate office has given the opportunity of conducting this tournament to the AP telecom Circle. Various committees have been formed for the successful conduct of the event,” George Santosh Marshall, Sr General Manager (HR & Admin) said here on Monday.

The three-day event, which will end on September 24 will have a total of 60 sports persons including, players, coaches and managers from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, North East-I, Tamil Nadu and  Uttaranchal circles.

The event will start with an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and I Suresh Babu, Principal Chief Commissioner Income Tax, AP & Telangana will be the chief guest.

This year, the AP circle had participated in seven sports and one cultural event at the national level. They had already won the Team Championship in 15th All-India Badminton Tournament held at Ahmedabad early this month.
