CCS Can Now Register And Probe Cases

HYDERABAD:The State issued orders on Tuesday empowering all Central Crime Stations in the State to register and investigate all cases under Section 2(s) of CrPC, 1973, as regular police stations do, and not just specific cases.

The decision comes in the wake of recognition of the need for giving the status to Special operation Teams, Central Crime Stations and Women Police Station of IT Corridor, especially in Cyberabad Commissionerate, which do not have the status and cannot register cases to take up investigation.

In Cyberabad, there are two SOT and seven CCS teams. They rely on station house officers of police stations concerned. As a result, Cyberabad commissioner CV Anand informed the DGP, Cyberabad has become highly crime-prone. As regards SOT and CCS cases, the SHOs of regular police stations, due to their multifarious duties, are unable to concentrate on white collar offences .
