Stray Dog Attacks Class Three Student

HYDERABAD:A class 3 student of SC-ST Welfare hostel at Bapuji Nagar in Bowenpally was attacked by a stray dog on Thursday. The boy, who suffered severe bites on his face and head, was rescued by the locals and shifted to hospital.

The incident took place at around 3.30 in the afternoon when the boy Srikanth along with friends was heading back to hostel from the public drinking water tank near the temple in Bapuji Nagar basti. While Bowenpally police and GHMC’s  veterinary wing claimed ignorant about the incident, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board officials, under whose jurisdiction the incident occured,  were unavailable for a comment.

Locals said, the hostel which houses more than 900 students suffer from lack of drinking water facilities, and hence the students go to public water tank to quench their thirst. “On Thursday afternoon, four to five boys were returning when the dog bit one of them. He suffered severe injuries and is kept under observation at the hospital,” Raju, a local said. Srikanth is a Lambada boy hailing from Mahbubnagar. He has been residing in the hostel for the last two years. The dog is yet to be caught.
