CCMB Reaches out to Science Enthusiasts

HYDERABAD: Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) opened its doors for students and science enthusiasts from across the state on the occasion of the foundation day of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) here Saturday. More than 14, 000 students visited the premier institute to understand the contributions of the premier research institute. CCMB director Ch Mohan Rao said the ‘Open Day’ was organised to ignite young minds and to create awareness among the students and general public about the ongoing research works at the CCMB in the frontiers of modern biology. Addressing media persons, the director also explained about some research works taken up by CCMB in collaboration with international institutes. Among the path breaking research studies is the initiative to develop a cost effective way to cure Coccidiosis, a disease affecting poultry, that chiefly infects the intestines. The scientists analysed Eimeria, the parasite which causes Coccidiosis, around the world.
