ORR Toll to Go up From Today

HYDERABAD:  Motorists driving cars, jeeps, vans, LMVs, LCVs, mini-buses, buses, heavy construction machinery (HCM), 2 to 7 or more axle trucks on Outer Ring Road (ORR) have to shell out additional bucks towards toll as the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), will revise the toll from April 1.

The annual revision of toll rates will go up to 3 per cent as per the prescribed guidelines. On ORR stretches, the toll will be calculated for specific length of travel and even the new pricing would continued to be rounded off to the nearest Rs 10.

The percentage of increase in rate per kilometre over the last year for toll on ORR inlcude : Car/jeep/van/LMV (2.94 pc), LCV/mini-bus (2.42 pc), bus/2-axle truck (1.73 pc), 3-axle vehicle (1.85 pc), heavy construction machinery/earthmoving equipment/4/5/6 axle trucks (2.03 pc) and oversized vehicles, 7 or more axles (1.97 pc).

On entering the access-controlled expressway, motorists have to pay at the nearest of the toll booths set up at 19 interchange points between Kokapet and Nanakramguda.

The revised toll will be collected at the toll plazas at Kokapet, Edulanagulapally, Patancheru, Sultanpur, Saragudem, Medchal, Kandlakoya, Shamirpet, Ghatkesar, Taramatipet,  Pedda Amberpet, Bonguluru, Raviryal, Tukkuguda, Pedda Golconda, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, APPA and Nanakramguda.

However, the service roads will be toll-free and will cater to mix traffic. The proposed toll was based on the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) rates and rounded off to the nearest Rs  10 and the rates would be displayed prominently near all the interchanges.

The fee for cars/jeeps/vans/light motor vehicles (LMV) will be 11.05 per kilometre, LCV and mini-buses Rs  1.69, buses/two-axle trucks Rs  3.53, three-axle commercial vehicles Rs  3.85, heavy vehicles and 4, 5 and 6 axle trucks Rs  5.54 and oversized vehicles (seven or more axles) Rs  6.74. The toll collection will be done by private agency.

HMDA officials said that HGCL could revise the user fee every year as per the state government’s orders -Outer Ring Road,Hyderabad (Toll) Rules, 2012. The rates will be hiked by 3 per cent annually and the increased rate will become the base rate for the subsequent year.
