Cyber Cops Arrest Two Online Fraudsters in Kolkata

One of the accused was involved in selling fake holiday packages while the other was selling fake mobiles.

HYDERABAD: The Cyber Crime police of Hyderabad arrested two persons in Kolkata in different online cheating cases.

According to police, one of the accused was involved in cheating gullible people on the pretext of selling holiday packages by flouting several fake companies and the other accused duped people in the guise of selling brand new mobile phone but delivered the box containing stones.

Varun Jaiswal, 25, proprietor and senior executive in Holiday Makers Asia, resident of Hooghli in West Bengal was arrested while two others Mousami Chakraborty and Arindam Chakraborty are still absconding. Police seized ATM cards, two pan cards, stamps, laptop and four SIM cards.

Police said that the offender Varun was running several fake companies like Royal Tourism, Travel Support and Holiday Makers etc on the pretext of selling holiday packages along with Mousami and Arindam at Dum Dum, Kolkata.

"When interested people called, their details would be forwarded to Varun who in turn insisted the customers to deposit an initial payment and other charges ranging from Rs10,000 to Rs50,000 in his bank account. Hundreds of innocent people all over India were cheated and the accused fraudulently earned lakhs of rupees," the police said. Similarly, police arrested Mohd Fahad, 25, business, resident of Howrah, West Bengal State.

Fahad posted an advertisement on OLX of selling a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note-4 for Rs19,000 in February. While innocent people called the accused, he convinced them to deposit the amounts.

Later, he took one empty phone box, kept a stone and delivered it. The mobile numbers of the cheated people was blocked on the accused mobile and did not give any response, In this manner, the accused cheated about 20 to 30 people and earned easy money.
