HYDERABAD: Four officials have been suspended for dereliction of duties in regard to the collapse of the newly constructed multi-storied building in Nanakramguda, a information technology suburb of Hyderabad on Thursday night.

GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Saturday issued orders suspending two more employees, R Rajender and P Madhu working in town planning section.

Yesterday, MAUD minister K T Rama Rao announced suspension of GHMC Circle 11 (Serilingampally), deputy municipal commissioner, V V Manohar and assistant city planner, N Krishna Mohan for failing to supervise or stop the unauthorised construction in Nanakramguda.

Based on the minister’s direction, Reddy suspended the two officials on Friday until the conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings against them.

While working in Circle 11, they failed to stop the unauthorised construction of building consisting of stilt plus five floors and a pent house at Lodha basthi in Nanakramguda which was constructed by Satyanarayana Singh without obtaining permission and without leaving proper setback in the plot area to an extent of about 200 sqyds leading to the the collapse of the multi-storied building.

Both the town planning employees neither detected the construction at the site nor took any action on the under-construction building. They did not issue any notice on the owner for the same.
