HYDERABAD: Efforts are continuing at a brisk pace to shift the pollutant industries beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad by next year.

The state government has identified a total 1,545 industries as pollutant. Of them, 385 industries have been already existing outside the ORR. The remaining 1,160 industries have been proposed to be shifted to the Hyderabad Pharma City.

The TSIIC has identified certain locations outside the ORR within a distance of 100 km to make twin cities free from industrial pollution.
Principal secretary (Industries) Arvind Kumar held a high level meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the status of relocation of polluting industries beyond ORR.

He said that the government is determined to shift the polluting industries outside ORR by the end of next year.
Arvind Kumar said that units which were willing to shift and relocate outside the ORR s should be suitably incentivised. Meanwhile, he asked the EPTRI officials  to submit their report on feasibility study.
