Three dogs poisoned; one pregnant dog attacked with acid in Hyderabad

Three dogs in Hyderabad were poisoned and a pregnant dog was attacked with acid, leading to the death of three of them.

HYDERABAD: After three puppies were burnt alive only last week, in another shocking incident, three dogs in Hyderabad were poisoned and a pregnant dog was attacked with acid. This resulted in the death of three.

The incident took place in Yapral, Secunderabad. An FIR has been registered by Annamma Joseph with the Jawahar Nagar Police Station. The police have ordered for a postmortem examination.  

Annamma who has been feeding the dogs on a regular basis, noticed the dogs crying in pain when she returned home in the evening. The pregnant dog was rescued by Archana and Hari of Bhairav Camps but it succumbed to injuries. The poisoned ones were taken to Blue Cross of Hyderabad out of which two died.

Humane Society International/India (HSI) is offering a cash prize up to `50,000 to those who can lead them to identifying the culprits.

“It would only take an ill mind to torture harmless dogs. At least one case of animal cruelty is being reported every week and the way the crime is committed leaves us aghast. This only proves that an immediate increase in penalties against animal cruelty is absolutely necessary. We encourage anyone who has information in this case to come forward. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential,” said N. G Jayasimha, from HSI/ India Anyone with leads to the culprits are requested to contact HSI/India at 076749 22044.
