Australian Woman Found Dead in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 53-year-old Australian national was found dead at her apartment in Akbarpura locality under Golconda police station limits in the city on Thursday. Golconda police have registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of CrPC and have started investigation.

The deceased, Mather Linda Margaret, arrived in the city on February 15 on a six-month tourist visa. She is suspected to have died of an overdose of drugs which she was consuming for Asthma and epilepsy. The body was found by her roommate, an African national, at around 12.30 pm on Thursday. According to Police, Margaret was staying in the city for at least a year before returning to Australia recently on the expiry of her visa. She was living as a tourist and for no other reason.

“Her son, daughter and husband live in Australia and she has been traveling between the two countries frequently. She was also an Asthma and epilepsy patient. We have found tablets next to her. There were no injuries on the body,” said Ghouse Moinuddin, ACP Asif Nagar division.  She was living with a 33-year old Nigerian man who was pursuing BCom in a degree college in the city.
