HYDERABAD: Kanneganti Rama Devi is the Founder and President of Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (formerly known as ALEAP). Being an educator, business consultant, social worker and a successful Indian entrepreneur, she is an inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs. Rama is known for her conceptual abilities as well as interpersonal relations. She also established the Shivani Engineering Works, which is into body building of buses for Road Transport Corporation of AP and Telangana having a turnover of `8 crore, providing employment to 50 people.

MENTOR

She not only extends her continuous support to women but also mentors them to realise their true potential and overcome challenges. Women in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are able to break gender related barriers, oppressive patriarchal, social structures and make a mark in the world of entrepreneurship.

FACILITATOR

 With a transformative idea, Rama initiated an exclusive industrial estate for women in India at Gajularamaram, Hyderabad. Rama was also instrumental in setting up the Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) institute to impart training for women in all sectors to develop as entrepreneurs. Her constant counseling and commonsense approach helped many young ladies to revaluate their attitude and take up income generation activity.

She was instrumental  in developing  Dr APJ .Abdul Kalam Green Industrial Park at Nandigama, near Patancheru, Medak district in 83 acres, first-of-its-kind in India.

Rama is  now perusing  self employment of women in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka by imparting skill development programmes in garments, jute and handicrafts for 40,500 women under ISDS scheme of Ministry of Textiles.

Rama Devi was able to translate her vision in the form of ALEAP, which is serving as a moral fiber to many women by improving their personal lives socially and economically. In recognition of her achievements and contributions she has received numerous honors and acknowledgements.

Among other things, Rama is the Member of High Level Task Force for MSME constituted by the the Prime Minister in 2009; Steering Committee member of Planning Commission from 2006 to 2014; Member of National Board of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises between 2007 and 2012; Chief Minister’s Task force member  of AP for Infrastructure development; Nominee Member on the Governing Body of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad during 2004-2012.
