BHOPAL: The man who attempted to the contract killing Telangana Youth Congress leader Vikram Goud at latter’s Hyderabad residence on July 28 was an out of business chicken seller from Indore in MP.
Acting on specific inputs from Hyderabad police, Indore police crime branch arrested the accused, Rayees Khan(32) from West Indore on Tuesday. Rayees, who had shot Goud twice, had attempted contract killing for the first time. “Rayees was in the business of supplying Aseel chicks. But in the last few months, his business hit a nadir owing to the negligible demand for the product,” DIG Indore Harinarayanchari Mishra told Express on Wednesday.

Later, Rayees developed close ties with one Ahmad, a native of Ananthpur district of AP. “In July first week, Ahmad along with two friends came to Indore and stayed at Rayees’s house and asked him to arrange a pistol and bullets,” said DIG Indore.Rayees sourced a pistol and bullets from another Indore resident Sadiq for `25,000 and handed it over to Ahmad, who went to Hyderabad.

“A few days later, Ahmad called Rayees and asked him to come to Hyderabad for a big buck task and arranged his stay at a hotel and prepared him to shoot Goud with the pistol. Ahmad paid `1.5 lakh for the Goud’s contract and Rayees agreed to execute crime possibly the first crime of his life as his business was in doldrums,” said Indore police crime ASP Amrendra Singh.

Ahmad and Rayees went to Goud’s house in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills area on July 28. After entering Goud’s house, Rayees opened fire on him twice and both of them fled. On Tuesday evening, Hyderabad police gave us the inputs about Rayees’s involvement in the case. He was picked up and `1.5 lakh paid by Ahmad to Rayees was recovered.
