HYDERABAD: A day after Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) members had pointed to non-availability of emergency drugs in the general ward and equipment elsewhere in the Osmania General Hospital, instructions were given on Wednesday to remedy the situation.

After the attack on two junior doctors and a duty doctor by the attendant of a patient,  junior doctors went on a protest strike and feared more such incidents on account of lack of basic devices such as glucometer in some wards. These issues were brought to the notice of hospital superintendent Dr GVS Moorthy on Tuesday. Director of medical education Dr K Ramesh Reddy held a meeting with heads of departments on Wednesday to take stock of the situation.

“I gave instructions for procuring more devices such as glucometer to make them available everywhere and for emergency drugs in emergency ward and other wings. We will request the government to raise the strength of Special Protection Force (SPF) deployed at the hospital,” the DME said. OGH superintendent Dr Moorthy said wiring for CCTV cameras had begun. “One of the problems was communication gap between senior and junior doctors. We have addressed this issue,” he claimed.

Security improved
Roster method will be followed for security personnel. Before leaving a post, a securityman has to take counter signature from a doctor or junior doctor The number of OGH entry points will be reduced after 6 pm and only one attendant per patient will be permitted after that
